This afternoon at 2:54 p.m. the New Lenox Fire Protection District received a call for a residential structure fire on the 700 block of Amber Road, which was called in by a neighbor.
Upon arrival firefighters observed smoke showing from a single-family residence. The firefighters then reported a working fire on the side wall of the garage. A neighbor was outside with their garden hose trying to keep water on the fire until the firefighters arrived on scene.
The fire was under control in 10 minutes and extinguished within 25 minutes from the time of first arrival.
No residents were home at the time of the fire.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
Multiple agencies were on the scene and at the New Lenox Fire Stations to cover any additional calls for service during that time. |
