As New Lenox grew, so did the demand on the fire district. It became clear that the NLFD would have to add another station to keep up with the growing number of calls in the southwest corner of town. The fire district first rented space in an industrial condo with a fire engine manned by volunteers. In 1986 the construction of Station 3 had been completed at the corner of Nelson Road and Country Creek Drive. It houses an Engine 63 and Ambulance 63.
